In our first blog, we want to help those of you who would like to feel better, maybe lose some weight and just find the motivation to get started down a path to better fitness. Most people know that a good diet and exercise has countless benefits ranging from reduced stress and increased energy to a possible reduction in chronic diseases and better flexibility and coordination. However, when it comes down to actually getting started, people struggle to find the motivation. In today’s post, we want to touch on the most common reasons that prevent people from exercising, and how Active Bodez can help. Keep reading to find your motivation!

You Have a Hard Time Getting (and staying) Motivated

We understand that life is busy. Between work, family, social commitments, and doing all of the things that you have to do to maintain a household, there’s hardly enough time to squeeze in a workout. In fact, you have so little time to yourself that when you do have a few minutes you’d rather be relaxing on the couch or catching up on lost sleep. So how are you supposed to get the motivation to drag yourself outside for a run or drive to the local gym?


Anticipation means that you actually look forward to something. While you might not always look forward to getting outside for a run, (especially when it’s cold and rainy), you will probably look forward to trying a new class, meeting a new person, or trying to hit that new milestone when you come to Active Bodez. When we say that accountability is also key to getting and staying motivated, we’re talking about finding a workout buddy. Everyone has those days — the ones that are particularly challenging, making it hard to get out of bed, let alone make it to the gym. On days like that, it’s your workout partner that will get you through it and encourage you to not give up.

If you’re the type of person that always seems to be doing things for other people, you certainly don’t want to leave your workout buddy alone to fend for themselves. Somehow, knowing that another person is counting on you will give you the strength to make it to the gym, and once you get there, who knows — maybe you’ll actually surprise yourself and accomplish your best workout yet!

You Get Bored Easily

Some people don’t mind doing the same thing, day after day. Walking the same path or biking the same road can actually be relaxing and therapeutic. But, if you’re the type of person that would be bored to death if you couldn’t change up your routine, then Active Bodez is for you!

Do you love to take group classes? We have several different kinds, from Zumba to Spin, plus boot camps, which are designed to make sure you are working out at the optimum heart rate to produce results fast.

Are you more into cardio machines? Or maybe you prefer weight lifting. Whatever gets you going, we have it. And since we’re talking about avoiding boredom, why not try something you haven’t tried before? If you’re intimidated by gym equipment, you’re not alone. Many people continue to do the same uninspiring thing, day after day because they aren’t sure how to work or adjust certain equipment and they don’t want to look silly trying. While we don’t think you should ever feel silly for trying to do something new, we do want to make sure that you don’t get hurt.

At Active Bodez, if you aren’t sure how something works, or you can’t adjust it to properly fit your body and maintain good form, then please reach out to a member of our team for help. We want to make sure everyone has a safe and effective workout. Keep in mind that we also offer everyone a free personal training session. This can be a valuable service that you should take advantage of, especially when you’re new to our gym and aren’t sure how things work.
