Graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science and a minor in Medical Anthropology.  Alexius enjoys running and cheering on the Tar Heels.

Scott Anspach

MEd., CEO (Chief Exercise Officer)

Earned his Exercise Science degree from the University of Dayton and Masters in Adult Fitness from the University of Georgia. He has been in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years. Scott participates in many duathlons (run, bike, run) and 5ks. He recently set his 5k PR of 19:59 at the age of 50 and normally places in the top 3 in his age group.

I live in Raleigh, NC. I’ve been a student of Zumba since 2007 and a licensed instructor since December 2009. I am passionate about teaching Zumba. I love sharing as many musical rhythms from around the world as I can in a fun, sweaty, multi-cultural, 1-hour fitness party! Kathy McPherson

CPTO (Chief Physical Therapy Officer)

Kathy has been a physical therapist for 15 years, and has a variety of experience with acute rehab, hippotherapy, ergonomics, and outpatient orthopedics. Kathy moved from the Boston area with her family to North Carolina, and enjoys spending time with her family, playing with their dog, baking, hiking, exercising, swimming, pilates, meditating and going to the beach.

Beth McDonnell


Beth is a registered dietitian with a Master’s degree in nutrition and 25 years of nutrition counseling experience in a variety of clinical and community settings, including both individual and group sessions. She is the owner of Make Better Choices, LLC. Beth was a casual runner – occasional 10k or 5k until she ran her first marathon at age 40. Since then she has run 8 more marathons including Boston twice and New York City one of the same years she ran Boston.

Amy Owens


Amy is registered dietitian that strives to make healthy eating attainable and enjoyable. She played division 1 soccer at Western Carolina University while completing her Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics degree. She is currently working on her Masters of Health Science degree. When she’s not seeing clients or doing homework, she enjoys hiking in the mountains, lifting weights, and spending time with her family.

Hello! I’m Vanessa Roca and I’ve been part of the Zumba community since 2013.  Since the first Zumba class I took, I loved the energy, the music and just how AMAZING it was!  I became a licensed Zumba instructor in 2014 and never looked back. Teaching Zumba brightens my week. The big bonus for me is seeing real people enjoying it so much and benefiting in so many different ways.  I am currently licensed to teach Zumba, Zumba Kids & Kids Jr.  Come dance with me, get fit and have FUN!  See you soon!

An ACE Certified Personal Trainer with over 23 years of experience working with personal training clients one-on-one, in gyms, in their homes, and in the corporate fitness setting. Relatable experience with orthopedic rehabilitation and physical perseverance. Mother of 2 amazing daughters. Enjoys making exercise fun and a part of everyday life for everyone!
